Five Egyptian Partner Universities EPUs

  1. Alexandria University (AU)

Alexandria University started in 1938 with two branches of Fuad the First University. In 1942, it became independent and grew to encompass 22 faculties. It strives to be a leader in education across various fields, promoting human values, and contributing regionally and globally. Washington State University and Alexandria University are partners in collaboration with the Governance pillar led by the Center of Excellence for Water. AU, as a coastal zone, AU specializes in seawater desalination and focuses on seawater intrusion, coastal protection, and stormwater management.

 

  1. Ain Shams University (ASU)

 Ain Shams University, situated in Egypt’s capital, this university focuses on drinking water supply, irrigation, and urban sewage treatment. Established in 1950, Ain Shams University is the third public university in Egypt. Alongside Cairo and Alexandria Universities, it aimed to expand higher education opportunities. It focuses on combining education, research, and community service to prepare graduates with the skills and knowledge to compete globally. Utah State University and Ain Shams University are partners in collaboration with the Instructional Innovation and Curriculum Development pillar of the Center of Excellence for Water.

  1. Aswan University (ASWU)

Aswan University, a flash flooding zone with expertise in surface hydrology and flood mitigation. Aswan University was established as an independent institution in its own right in 2012. Aswan University aims to deliver high-quality education and research opportunities, meeting regional and international standards. Aswan University is enrolled among the best 300 Universities in Achieving Sustainable Development Objectives and number 1 in citations according to the World University Rankings. Temple University and Aswan University are partners in collaboration with the Exchange, Training, and Scholarships pillar led by the Center of Excellence for Water.

  1. Beni Suef University (BSU)

Beni Suef University is located in an industrial region with a high concentration of industrial wastewater and pollution. Beni Suef University was established based on a Presidential Decree No. (84) in 2005 and resigned from the prestigious University of Cairo. Beni-Suef University seeks to advance a permanent development in its educational process, promote the quality of performance, and obtain an outstanding position among local, regional and international universities.

  1. Zagazig University (ZU)

Zagazig University, as a rural area, specializes in irrigation and agriculture. Zagazig University was established in 1970 contributing to the renaissance of Egypt and its global position on education. It began as a branch of Ain Shams University and was the seventh university set up in Egypt. Its aim is to become a distinguished Egyptian Public University and has plans to build and expand to a Centre for Graduate Studies and Research in Obour City. Zagazig University and the University of California are partners in collaboration with the Applied Research pillar of the Center of Excellence for Water.
