Innovative Teaching Strategic (ITS) Workshop
Introduction
The Center of Excellence for Water is a USAID-funded project to establish a Center of Excellence for Water at Alexandria University – Egypt. The project is managed by The American University in Cairo (AUC) and has multiple partnerships and stakeholders (Universities, Public Institutions, and Industries). The Center’s overall goal is to promote water-related research and educational activities to benefit Egypt’s economy and people, support the government in facing water challenges, develop policies, and prepare the next generation of graduates and entrepreneurs. The Center focuses on curriculum reform, capacity development, commercialization of research, technology transfer, design, and dissemination of the most relevant and highest quality applied research to face the challenges of different sectors and enable the country to achieve Egypt- Vision 2030 goals. A series of workshops on innovative teaching strategies are taking place at the Center of Excellence for Water partner universities to provide a platform to develop teaching abilities and investigate cutting-edge pedagogical approaches.

Workshop Objectives
1. Engage the students in your course using active learning.
2. Communicate effectively with your students.
3. Help students become more competitive through professional skills.
4. Help students tackle technical problems using the scientific approach.
5. Effectively assess student learning.
This workshop is designed to support Faculty members who seek to empower the students’ responsibility in the learning process and faculty members who seek to exchange good teaching practices and discuss challenges with colleagues and course trainers about innovative teaching methods. Also, faculty members are interested in acquiring new skills to enhance the educational process.
